I started reading Hellboy over the weekend and I want to kick myself for not doing it earlier. I had it ready to read for months, but I could never bring myself to open it because, well, giant devil boys running around kicking mythical creatures isn’t my thing.

But I read it, and wow. There’s a reason why fans revere Mike Mignola. Hellboy is far from what I expected in the very best way. Hellboy is a likeable, down-to-earth guy and each of the supporting cast is clear-minded with their own unique goals. I’m sure there’s no need to mention Mignola’s bold lines and strong art.

Three issues in and I’m already attached to Hellboy and the BPRD. Mignola, you do good.
